Subject: G4 stays for Gascherbrum 4: a peak of almost 8'000 m ( 26'000 ft.) in the Karakoram Himalayas. Êurt Diemberger, a very popular european climber and writer, called it " one of the most difficult mountains on earth". The documentary follows a group of 7 swiss-italian climbers during their attempt to climb for the first rime the north-east ridge of G4 in 2002, the international year of the mountains. This ridge was the same followed by the first climbers to reach the summit in 1958: Walter Bonatti and Carlo Mauri.
